Hello folks. I perused your forum three years ago, or so back when I was first dx, and have stopped by from time to time to grab some of the valuable information posted here.
My cancer is of the low grade non-invasive group and I have had a total of four TURs, the most recent from a tumor that had moved to the lower end of the ureter. Following the second TUR I was treated with mitomycin and was clear for just about a year when it reoccurred. My last cysto showed an area that appeared sort of 'angry' instead of a tumor, and a biopsy proved to be positive. Will have yet another TUR on Monday, 1/14.
My urologist has never even mentioned BCG and I`m wondering why? I`m a disabled veteran, so my healthcare is at VA, so I have theorized that mabe BCG is more expensive than mitomycin? I guess my main question is, has my treatment (cysto-TUR, cysto-TUR, cysto-TUR) been standard operating procedure thus far?
At this juncture, nothing more can be done in my bladder for six months because I am to have a total knee revision surgery 1/21, and the threat of infection is very high. An infection in the joint is the LAST thing I need!
Thanks in advance for any tips..
Regards, Griz
