Chuck,

So sorry to hear about the reoccurence. Hopefully, it isn't CIS but if it is, BCG seems to be the best treatment plan.

The good news is that even if it does progress, a cystectomy is by no means the end of the world. Many, many, many of us progressed and had our bladders removed and are doing just fine. It is Wayyyyyyyyyy more scary before getting the bladder removed than it is after. I suppose that is fear of the unknown.

In any case, hopefully, you are far, far away from having to worry about that.

Chuck,

I am sorry to read about your recurrence - my first uro called BC "nuisance tumors." I am like you and haven't participated in a while - but still find my way back periodically. I think BCG has a higher chance of preventing progression than mitomycin. I hope it all goes well for you. Before you go too aggressive, be sure to get second opinions.

Hi,I have had 2 recurrences while on BCG treatments. All my tumors have been TA Grade 1. Since the last weekly session and 12 monthly maintenance treatments I have been cancer free for 20 months.
Ta Grade 1 has a high recurrence rate, but a very low progression rate.
Hopefully your turbt will show that the tumor is still Ta Grade 1.
CIS has been treated with BCG and maintenance BCG very successfully.
I wish you all the best,
Jack

Chuck,
Unfortunately, Bladder Cancer does have such a high percentage of re-occurrence. But at the same time, that is why we have to have so many cystos to watch the sneaky BC and to be on top of everything. From what I have learned, as long as the cancer does not progress to another stage, just keep treating it. I also had a dx of CIS 21 months ago, and have been treated with BCG. BCG is the most effective treatment for CIS.
Just hang in there, and keep a positive outlook:laugh:

:( Sorry for your reoccurence! We who are fighting BC all fear reoccurence. Even heard someone compare BC to a "weed". You pull it up and it seems to return over-night.

I just keep telling myself to look around, as I can always find someone worse off than my self. I thank the Lord everday I wake up with a "pulse" and my "bladder" between my legs.

Keep you head-up, smile, and do not let this defeat you. Determine now, that you "will" defeat BC :)
