Susan,

Thankfully we are within 5 min. of the hospital. I am glad we aren't walking up a hill as you had to! YIKES...

I will be thinking of you and praying for positive results for you as well!

Hi, again, Karen -- It is amazing that you have concern for me with your
current family situation. Be blessed. Yes, when I had radiation and no transportation (unless I hassled with cabs) it was get up, get dressed, walk up the hill (25 minutes), get called, and be out of there in 10 minutes or so. The walk down the hill was closer to 20 minutes :) Now, I am retroactively grateful
I could walk it. But still, it was a lot to manage for 10 minutes a treatment.
Are you close to where the radiation treatment is given, or does this involve a
lot of driving, too?

I go to Houston tomorrow. My husband took time off to go with me. We've driving
(He's driving). I'm nervous about driving to a new city among all the other concerns. As of now, I only have two appointments Wed. morning. After those
initial appointments, there will probably be tests before another (other) appointment/s with the doctor/doctors to discuss any treatment options there
may be. I'm not surehow much internet access I'll have, but I'll check in asap.

Wishing you and your dear husband the very best outcome -- Susan

Karen, I am thinking of you and your family. I hope the radiation can help reduce the pain. I know even when prepared for difficult news it is unsettling. Nowadays I think we have reached the stage of numbness whenever there is another down turn. I hope you have many more days together. Julie

Hi Susan,

Yes the Back pain is the primary but the femurs, and pelvis run a close second...Radiation is expected to last for 5 days. Tough to get up, dressed, and in the car for a treatment that will last only 5-10 min...

How are you? Did you have your appointment yet? What are they suggesting?

Thanks for your prayers!

Karen-- Hard news to receive and with which to cope, but new releases and
munchies sound pretty good. Is the back pain the main "quality drain" right now?
I pray that the radiation relieves it. How long is the radiation expected to last? Is it 5 days a week? You and your family are in my prayers. My heart goes out to you; imaging with objective evidence of spreading is tough to take. I know it has always thrown me for a loop -- as you posted, may we all have strength and comfort
for the challenges ahead -- Susan

Cheryl,

Thank you so much for your thoughts...

I can tell through your words how much you loved your mother. They are special times I agree. I always think of the families that lost a loved one very suddenly in an accident, or other event, and never got to have the special times we are afforded.

God Bless you and your family...

I HAVE TO SAY TO YOU: Soon the good memories will become more powerful than the sad memories...All the memories are there, but the focus will definitely shift from the sad to the happy times, and from the bad memories to the good ones...it is a process so give yourself the time you need to go through every aspect of grief...once you do that you can get your life back, and have wonderful memories of your mom.
