Hello, Jack,
Thank you for your reply.
I finally convinced my husband to get an appointmnt at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
It is the best shot we have in FL.
Thank you for the clinical trial info...much appreciated.
Be well.
Carol

Thank you everyone for replies.
My husband is 76 years old and has a very negative attitude about the future.
He basically does not want to go through the RC/prostate removal and have to deal with an ostomy bag.
He will also hae to have an aneurysm repaired before the RC surgery.
He is disheartened that chemo/radiation do no good.

Did anyone else feel this way?
Thank you again.

A year after removal of a Single T3 tumor in bladder-sparing TURBT while overseas, with 6 weekly rounds of intravessical doxorubicin and Mitomycin-C followed by 3 rounds (28 days each) systemic chemotherapy with Gem-Cis, a cystoscopy revealed a bloody growth diagnosed as adenocarcinoma. I was told to get 2d surgical opinion to prepare for radical cystoprostatectomy. Urologist also sent pathology slides to John’s Hopkins for 2d opinion. In the meantime I went to Moffitt and had another TURBT to assess RC. Took a month, but John’s Hopkins unstained and restrained the samples and changed the diagnosis from adenocarcinoma to nephrogenic adenoma (benign). I am at almost 4-yrs post-op with now clean quarterly cystoscopies and annual PET scans. I had a single tumor and had my surgery overseas. If I had been in the US at the time I would have been told from the get go to have the RC. I would have samples sent to Johns Hopkins from any future pathology I encounter. If anything returns, I’m told I must have the RC.

Welcome to the forum. Until someone with direct experience with answers, you may wish to review the 55 threads on the subject by clicking on SEARCH in the top bar of this page and entering the term, "adenocarcinoma", without the quote marks.

Perhaps you will find useful information in the personal experiences others have had dealing with adenocarcinoma. There are no doctors on this site, but there can be much to glean from others who have been down the path previously.

You may also find information about programs, treatment and research in adenocarcinoma at one or more of the National Institutes of Health fifty Centers of Excellence. That link is below. Search for "Turkey Tail" on this site to view curated reviews of cancer research with mushrooms, including links to reputable institutions taking part in research.

Take nothing you find on the internet as true. Always run items of intrust past your doctors and care team.

Diagnosed with adenocarcinoma...now what? was created by Iration143
Was diagnosed 4 months ago with an adenocarcinoma in my bladder. Had one surgery to try and remove the tumor which is localized. Urologist could only remove some as the bladder wall is relatively thin to scrape. I believe they diagnosed me with stage 2, I have had C.T. scans. They told me a partial cystectomy would not work. It would have to be radical, however the odds are not in my favor. I suffer from COPD and not a good anesthetic candidate for a 3 hour surgery, it would be very risky and might not come out per the specialist. They also told me that radiation/chemotherapy would be of no use. Looking for some suggestions, feedback on this matter. Has anyone seeked a more natural approach with any decent outcomes? I've read some stories on Turkey trail mushroom extract to have helped some. Obviously this cancer is invasive just looking at all the options. Thanks for your time guys! Godbless
