Bill,

You might want to let your uro know because of your particular circumstances.

I don't recall any bleeding after a regular cysto exam. Any cysto that involves any other procedure at the same time could cause some minor bleeding though.

Of course if your uro typically does cystos with a running start from across the room, that could very well result in some bleeding. :silly:

Seriously though, even if others have had bleeding after a regular cysto exam, I'd recommend calling your uro and just letting them know. There could be some urethral trauma depending on how good (or bad) they are at doing cystos, especially at the prostatic sphincter. Bet you never knew you had so many dang sphincters, did you? :D

TO clarify, my comment about antibiotics was in relation to getting a cysto.
It was not intended to be along with BCG. If that was not clear in my original post, I apologize.

I was given one macrobid and some peridium whenever I got a cysto.

I was not given any antibiotics when I got BCG or Mitomycin.
When I had the bad reaction to BCG (fever over 102, chills, etc.) I was given antibiotics that would kill the BCG and that's when it was deterimined that I failed BCG treatment and was switched to mitomycin treatments.

Julie is right Bill...the medication is over a 6 month period and you must see an infectious disease specialist.
Some articles on this

The suggested first-line antimicrobial treatment for M. Bovis BCG is isoniazide 300 mg daily and rifampin 600 mg daily with or without ethambutol 1200 mg daily by mouth for 6 months.17 Ethambutol is recommended as complementary treatment for patients with significant systemic disease or to replace isoniazide in patients who do not tolerate the drug owing to adverse effects (i.e., liver dysfunction, fever, malaise or maculopapular eruption)

Only an infectious disease specialist will know what tests to run.
And Mike...yes some antibiotics to interfere with BCG

Bill, Have you seen an infectious disease specialist? The medication given for TB is usually given for 6 months not two weeks at a time. Often there is more than one plus Vitamin B-6. Did anyone do any tests to verify that there is evidence of TB in your prostrate or blood stream.

My husband had an abscess behind his left kidney where his nephrostomy tube was placed for BCG treatment to his ureters and kidneys. The abscess contained MRSA and acid fast bacteria which is a sign of TB. We knew the bacteria was from the BCG instillation but they called in an infectious disease specialist and was given anti TB medication for 6 months.

I hope things clear up soon for you. Julie

:) Thanks for the reply "mmc", I do trust your opinions. I have 3-mo before my next Cysto, when my Uro & I will again discuss the 10% dosing of BCG.

I believe Pat said that while I am on the "TB" meds I can do little else, till I get a "TB" all clear. I have had a prostate infection now for over 3-mo and have been miserable!

Since my BC was T1 high grade, I will probably go ahead and give the 10% BCG a chance.
