I have not posted much during the past month. Returned from a trip to Papua New Guinea two weeks ago (did not have internet access there much) and seem to have brought their "special" brand of travelers' disease with me. For the first week I was home I was in bed and now am semi-ambulatory. Have an appointment with my doc tomorrow afternoon to see if he can fix this...he has said that it can take several months to completely recover. Ironically, once I decided to seek medical help I found that he was in a class last week at Oregon Health Sciences University on Tropical Medicine! I offered to be a case study:laugh:
To make matters worse, I did NOT enjoy the trip...thought it would be interesting and exotic. It sort of was if almost stone age civilization can be called exotic. It was like a trip though a 1940's issue of National Geographic. The villagers in the jungle do NOT wear clothes much! Very poor and chaotic country. Most of these tribes had not seen a white man until right before the second world war.
Thanks to all of you who kept up on the Forum!
