I usually try to have my tests done at the medical center. I got tired of the lab techs telling me they needed a 'clean' sample.

I'm glad you are getting the re-test Mike.

Best,
Gracie

I didn't get the FISH test this time but I had it earlier.

I was thinking they did FISH if cytology was positive. Since we are writing off this cytology (since the lab didn't know I had a neobladder) I wasn't worried about getting one now.

If my cytology is positive on Tuesday, then I will ask about FISH.

Appreciate the info Mona.

A little paranoia is not a bad thing here. I will be asking about that when I go to U of Chicago for followup on Tues.

Mike, would you ask your guys too so we can compare responses?

Lee, here's some info on the FISH. For the first year my husband had just cytology but because we are paranoid we requested this and so have both now!

about the follow up tests...

My husband has cytology and FISH every 3-4 months to check for recurrence in the urethra/ureters. Also CT pelvis/abdomen every 6 months to check for progression. Next tests in August which will be almost 3 years post-diagnosis/neobladder. He's had 2 cystoscopies after bleeding but nothing abnormal found - he cycles regularly so his uro thinks this is just neobladder irritation because he's active.

Best of luck on Tuesday Mike,
Mona.
