Persistent infection (>60 pus cells) during BCG treatment

Pretty normal response. Many of us have had to postpone BCG at some point due to infections, shortages, and other problems. So, do not despair! Having done 5 treatments his immune system is probably responding and revved up. While we are on the subject, there never has been an "exact" number of scheduled treatments or dosage that has been deemed perfect or optimal. Welcome and ask away as you have any more questions.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

My dad was diagnosed with non invasive high grade papillary urothelial carcinoma. He underwent TURBT couple of months back and is now undergoing intravesical BCG treatment. He completed 5 doses of BCG and was scheduled for the sixth dose last Friday but his urine analysis shows > 60 pus cells and a few RBCs despite taking antibiotics for the last two months. He has been on Cefixime + Ofloxacin. Urine Culture doesn't show any growth. His urologist doesn't have an answer to this persistent leukocyturia and has told us to wait till the infection settles down. I am really worried about his delay in BCG treatment and whether this persistent infection is something to be concerned about.

Could you please suggest whether this is a normal response and what all we could do to get to the root of this problem.
