I'm just slipping into my 3 l/2 " heels and walking through the mall!!
By the way i worked with John Carradine...father of David...on a Special for TV.....fascinating man. He always had an audience around him including the children who just loved to hear his tales. Pat

Well done, Grasshopper!! ;D I do remember David Carradine as Kung Fu very, very well.

Anyway, what you say is interesting, because I recently found and dug out an old book from my shed about Eastern Psychology. What I saw underscored in the book went like this, and it reminds me very much of what you are saying to me...

"We do not complete anything: and as a result we dissipate our energy, our mental powers are wasted, and our will is not stimulated and unified. One ought to complete an action whatever it is."

How simple!

I have been walking to the library every day on my lunch hour, even though the heat and humidity makes me feel like I am walking through an armpit (YuK, what an analogy)...

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support, because every time I think that the heat is a good excuse not to go for my walk, I think of you here, and your support, and also that I should be an example to you all here.

So, thanks, my friend. We are definitely on the same page with this....

Hello Rosemary,

I've been thinking about what you wrote, and about distractions in general.

Now, imagine it's 1972. You're watching Kung Fu. Okay, I know you weren't watching it then, but bear with me. Young David Carradine tells blind Master Po, "Master, I am having a difficult time with my workouts. I have many distractions."

Master Po replies, "Grasshopper, your distraction is the workout."

Back to 2007--since life is such a mental game, I think our distractions really are our workouts. It's not just going for a walk; that's ust putting one foot in front of the other. It's lacing up our shoes (or whatever you do to Crocs) and not turning on the tv or getting on the computer until you're done. Disciplining ourselves to do what we should do, when we should do it, whether we feel like it or not, is how we get better. And losing 20 lbs and getting in shape is a bonus that just happens.

Pat,

You are so very droll :) However, you obviously do not own a pair of Crocs or you would know that they are so very feather like on the feet and they have convenient little holes for ventilation. Also, my mother swears that they help the pain in her back!!

In my opinion, they beat tie up shoes all to heck, those old sweaty things.....

Give them a try, we don't hate you, just see the light!!!

Croc owners of America...you're going to hate me....but there's no way any color of Crok can signify a good omen.....What are you thinking? Pat

Stephany,

I wish you were here and you could put my feet to the fire and we could walk a mile in our shoes! Thanks for giving me some words of inspiration. Today I will act "as if".

Pat,

It's time to buy some lime green crocs! This is a good omen, not a bad one.

I will keep you all posted as to progress on my attempt at a new quality of life.

I appreciate the inspiration, encouragement and support.

With my feet not too close to the fire yet,
Rosemary
