THANK YOU AGAIN FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER ME AND IT SURE DOES HELP. THE LAST TIME HE SAID "LINDA YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH SURGERY PERHAPS EVERY 3 MONTHS SO LETS TRY THE BCG IN SEPT AFTER I SCOPE YOU. HE SAID IT TAKES ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO PUT INTO BLADDER, I GO HOME AND VOID IT IN ONE HOUR. HE SAID I CAM GO TO WORK THE NEXT DAY, BUT GEE AFTER ALL THAT I HAVE READ IN HERE, I AM SCARED.

THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME ABOUT KLAU'S MOTHER, THAT HELPS A LOT. I KNOW EVEY ONE IS DIFFERENT AND REACTS DIFFERENT. I HAD LUNG CANCER DONE LAST MAY AND NO PROBLEMS, NO CHEMO AND NOW I ONLY GO BACK EVERY 6 MONTHS AND THIS SEEMS SO MUCH WORSE TO GET RID OF. I HAD NO IDEA IT COULD KEEP RE-OCCURING, BUT I AM EATING SOOOOOOOO HEALTHY, FRESH FRUITS AND VEGGIES + 9 VITAMINS, AND OF COURSE PRAYERS.

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP.

Well its easy enough to get confused. I know the TURBs for me were not a problem whatsoever....in and out....catheter removed immediately after surgery and i walked out......but where the doctor is concerned is that after each TURB there's always a chance of re-seeding of the original tumor..and there's always a risk to general anesthesia...which is why i think he would like you to try the BCG and then just have a poke and peek rather than knock you out. You may not be uncomfortable with it at all......Klau's mother just finished 5 rounds with no discomfort at all...maybe she'll jump in here and relate her experience.
But Rosie is right...discuss this with your doctor...be informed and hope he has a sympathetic and unbiased ear. Pat

Mystic Linda,
I think you need to talk it over with your doctor as to his reasons for recommending BCG rather than continuing tumor removal or doing watchful waiting. Many of us have advised you as to our recommendations and our experience relative to low grade papillary bladder cancer both on the forum and privately. I think you would have better clarity and rise from what you say is "confusion" if you discussed the ideas brought to you from us on this forum and what is posted under superficial=non invasive bladder cancer on the www.blcwebcafe.org.
Sincerely, Rosie

HI PAT,

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY, I REALLY APPRECAITE IT.

I HAVE GONE FOR A SECOND OPINION AND THE SURGEON CALLED IT A NUISANCE CANCER BUT DID RECOMMEND BCG SINCE HE SAID "YOU DO NOT WANT SURGERY EVERY 3 MONTHS.'' BUT AS I SAID, THE SURGERY WAS NOT BAD AT ALL AS TO WHAT I HAVE READ IN HERE.

THE PATH REPORT STATED PAPILLARY TRANSITIONAL CELL CARCINOMA, GRADE 11.

WOW AM I CONFUSED, I REALLY WANT TO THANK YOU.

LINDA

Well Mystic if you've gone 3 or 4 times for TURBS and the pathology comes back non-invasive maybe you've got the "wait and see" type of nuisance cancer. Not everyone recommends BCG for low grade. I think i would on the side of caution get more than one opinion on your tumors.
And BCG is not always brutal......some really do breeze through it with very little discomfort but the first 24 hours. I guess we need to hear from the forum members who have not had any horrible discomfort with it.......its like good news bad news..........who wants to read the good news.
