Funny you guys should bring this up, as this was a *huge* concern of mine.

As you may know, I spent years in South America, diving in some very nasty river and ocean water. I got quite a few cases of intestinal parasites.

So I was positive that was what caused my bladder cancer.

When I asked Dr. Stein about parasites, he immediately asked me if I'd been to the Middle East, which is the only place these parasites are. Of course the answer was no, and we were back to square one.

I was in yesterday to meet with my surgeon and prior to that meeting, met with a doctor who has just graduated from med. school three days ago. In talking with me, he asked if I had ever lived in Egypt and I said, "no, why do you ask?" He told me there is a parasite there that is the reason so many people in Egypt are diagnosed with bladder cancer. News to me. I did know that this was the case in some tropical countries, so I have read but I've never been to any of those coutries either.

Also, I happen to be reading the "in memorial" section of this website and noticed that Susan had lived in Egypt. Does get me thinking about where I might not want to travel in the future. Melodie
