I've had 5 or 6 cystos as well... I dislike going to the dentist about as much! The first time is always the worst! Not a big deal anymore, except it is uncomfortable peeing and having sex for about 12 hours afterwards :) The nurse just squirts in some numbing KY-jelly stuff about 10 minutes before the good ol' plumber's scope goes in!

It would be more exciting if the urology nurse didn't look like Selma from Nightcourt... but I guess thats the point.

Just relax... a little uncomfortable... ask the doc if you can watch the tv while he has the camera in there... I am a guy and have had about 6 of them.. old stuff now..

No anesthesia or locals. Sometimes the nurse will put a little numbing gel in my urethra.
That's all.

I've never found cystoscopies to be uncomfortable. Of course, I cannot speak for the guys! :-[

I'm new here but does follow up cystoscope exams require anesthesia or locals of any kind? I will have one in another month or so.
