My buddy had Rezum. He has had to have catheter for 4 weeks now. Said when he explored forums he found others had same.

MD did not put him under for procedure and pain was excruciating. 4-5 9 second steam treatments.

If you go that route do you homework.

My bladder cancer was initially detected incidentally when my urologist performed a cystoscopy to determine the extent to which my urethra was being obstructed by my moderately enlarged prostate. At the time, we were discussing Urolift or Rezum but that took a back seat once he poked the telescope into the bladder and we saw the abnormal growth. Later when discussing the TURB I asked him if he would be addressing the prostate at the same time and (if I recall correctly) he said he would only do one procedure at a time. Now that my 6 BCG induction treatments are behind me, I will discuss having the Rezum treatment when I next meet with him.

I've looked closely at Rezum and Urolift (uropinch might be a better term), including side effects. The thought of those staples turns me off so I'm opting for the steam. From what I've read, an "irritated prostate" due to the Urolift 6 months out doesn't sound right at all. I'm sure you will get a clearer picture of what's going on when you head to NYC on the 10th and the folks there can take a look.

As a bit of further info/input

I went on Myrbetriq 50mg for the spams without much success, then had the acupuncture and also prescribed B&O suppository (these help make the pain manageable, only used them for 3 days). I had to pay for those out of pocket as my cheap a** insurance provider refused to pay for them ;^)

I have since gone off the Myrbetriq and am doing well.

Keep the faith my man.

Ciao

I had horrible spasms and pain after my second round of BCG treatments.

I found incredible relief with acupuncture treatment (Suprapubic with electro-stimulation) - I have western medicine training (RN) and do research as a profession. My oncologist is all for the acupuncture and wanted to know the treatment plan Dr. Zhang had for managing.

All I know is it worked (once weekly for 3 weeks) - the bummer was I had to pay out of pocket. I have found an acupuncture co-op here and will use them to save on costs for my next round in mid-March. I spoke with the acupuncturist at the co-op to ensure they could perform the same type of treatment Dr. Zhang was performing.

It has now been about 30 days since my last treatment for this round and am finally feeling back to normal.

Please check in with your doc as your treatment team does not want you to be suffering and there are a variety of options out there.

Take care
