Congratulations on getting through the first of many BCG treatments . And yes blood and tissue in the urine seems to go along with it as some of the lining seems to slough off .

Hello all!
Yeah! Just completed my first round of BCG this afternoon.
As people around me know how positive I always have been I thought I would share this photo of my nurse all ready to administer this last dose. She surely has upper hand on me with that weapon! lol
Now we start the waiting game until Nov. 7 when we will find out if my body responded well to the treatments. I will keep you posted as each member of this forum is sooo supportive.

I do have a question though. I have noticed when I am still going through the voiding process of this last treatment that my urine is somewhat bloody; this has never happened in the last 5. I assume this is normal.

Thank you Sara Anne!

As I way laying down for my cystoscopy, I remember vividly the urologist/oncologist pointing the tumor on the screen and telling me "See this ugly little thing? That is cancer, we need to remove asap and send to pathology " . That was quite a shock.

Within 3 weeks the tumor was removed as well as satellites . Pathology report had good and bad news. BCG treatments were my next step. Interestingly enough BCG treatments were actually discovered here in Kingston, Ontario part of the Queen's University . I just happen to live in Kingston and followed by Urology/Oncology at KGH - teaching hospital. So fortunate to have such a great medical team.

I have just had my 5th of 6th dose of BCG yesterday and scheduled for next cysto on Nov 7. I am crossing my fingers that BCG is working.

In the meantime I keep on going to the gym, eat healthy and determine to keep fighting.

Welcome, Ginette! Know you don't really want to be here, but....

The GOOD news is non-invasive. The NOT-SO-GOOD news is "high grade." But this is generally highly treatable. You are where I was 11 years ago and I have been cancer-free ever since. You can do this too.

The gold standard of care for cases such as yours is BCG.....an attenuated form of TB bacteria that is instilled directly into the bladder. This kicks up the immune system and helps the bladder to reject the cancerous cells. It is a very do-able treatment. For the past year there has been an international shortage of BCG but this appears to be lessening so that we will hope that your urologist has this available.

For now I won't go into all the ins and outs of BCG, but there is a lot of information on this Forum about it. Please ask any questions that you have as you go along this journey.

Hello everyone!
I have been diagnosed with High grade non invasive bladder cancer.

I have just joined this forum and fortunate to now be part of this big family. I have overwhelming support from my family and friends but was finding that I needed to talk and share with people who are going through the same fears, emotions and need to find answers. Here I am......
