Hello Trpstr
My name is Duke. I just dropped back in today to talk about another issue and seen your post. Thought I should reply.
I had Neo bladder surgery in 2009, I'm now 72, male. Probably my story from then is in archives here somewhere.
I have been more then satified with the surgery i had. It is not a easy surgery to have and I've had many. More to the point, I leak very little, it's really not a problem. I was still able to have sex after surgery. I think I had a great surgeon, but at the same time I have to say i have a friend that had the same surgeon and he was not happy with the results.
I'm I happy with my choice of the neo bladder, yes I am!
If I can answer any question for you let me know, I will check back here for a few days.
Wishing you the best!

Duke

Welcome trpshtr,

Vanderbilt has a very good reputation. I am linking a site that does a great job about the 3 different diversions. As it won't hyperlink just copy and paste it. my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments/12546-urinary-reconstruction--diversion

Most people seem to be happy with whatever they end up with. Sometimes the surgeon has to adjust to issues while in surgery or they have expertise in one or maybe 2 types. Just make sure to ask about that plus what ifs etc. Also, that whoever does it has done many, maening 25-35 a year.

Keep posting as you have questions. Someone will have "been there and done it".

Hello All.
I was diagnosed with BC 3 yrs ago after I noticed the toilet bowl had what looked like cherry kool aid it it. I was alarmed. When it happened again, I called my PC.. Since then, it has been removed 3 more times. Urologist said it would have to come out.

He referred me to Vanderbilt Hosp Dr who is supposed to be on the leading edge of research and technics. He has scheduled me for a CT and chest X-ray.. Then will do the scope look and decide which way to go for treatment.

I have assumed that bladder will eventually have to come out. We did talk about the "Preserving the Bladder" method. At this point, I am a little confused as to which diversion surgery to choose.

Anyone have any advice or stories on living with the "Neo Bladder"? Thanks, TrpStr
