Hey Sean T,

Reading your post, it appears that we are pretty much on the same path. Started around the same time, turbt, then BL turbt, 6X BCG, and I had my first of 3 just this Wednesday. So far I haven't felt much. I did feel tired today but not sure if it was just being lazy and wanting to lay around most of the day or a result of the treatment. I was really excited to hear that my initial treatment was effective but know that it is just the beginning of the battle.

I have found that just the experience of the last 9 months has made the whole issue less frightening. I have never felt sick during the process and still don't. I did have real pain after my first Turbt and I do have some burning after the second turbt (the catheter really sucked) and instillation of BCG but not much at all. Looking at the monitor as I got my last cystoscopy I noticed that my prostate was really red and also my bladder lining looked inflamed but I can't feel it. The idea that I could have such a dangerous disease and not have any physical symptoms seems almost surreal.

Anyway, I will be playing close attention to your progress and of course hope that we both have much success in our fight to stay healthy. I am finally back to making plans and after my initial diagnosis it seemed to stop my normal planning for the future. So things are looking up!

Peace and Love,
Dave

Dave, my first go round with BCG (6 treatments, once a week for six weeks) was easy with no ill effects. I'm in my second round (3 treatments, once a week for three weeks) and this time it's rougher. It's not unbearable, mind you, just a tad bit rougher. The day of treatment isn't too bad. I have urgency and frequency. But by the second day I am wiped out almost like the flu and urgency and frequency is accompanied by burning. It's very uncomfortable. I can't drive to the corner without having to use the restroom. Day three isn't as bad as day two but not great. By day four I'm bouncing back. By day five I'm back to normal.

I have one more round on Monday and then that's it for this cycle! I'm glad too. I'm really glad. Then in three months it all starts over again (cysto, then, if cancer free, 3 round, etc., for the next two years).

Yahoo!! I had my Cystoscopy after 6X BCG today and NED (No Evidence of Disease) :woohoo: I start my 3X BCG next week. I had very little symptoms with the inital treatment and the Doc said to let him know if I did and he would cut the dosage. Very relieved and Thankful!

Peace and Love, Dave

I sure will Alan. I told him a got a good reference from my bladder blog on him. He got a kick out of that! It was a pleasure visiting with a fella from my neck of the woods. Even though there are no woods in west Texas. Lol
