Sara Ann,
Thanks one more time for explaining that to me. I have decided to have my 2nd TURBT done in Dallas. Ironically I got a call from MD Anderson today, to schedule an appointment, but I found a great doctor in Dallas I think I'll stay with. I can always get another opinion from them.

Thank you,
Janice

Think your uro is speaking of apples and you are asking questions about oranges! Mitomycin is often used as a "wash" immediately after a TURB to be sure that no cancer seeds itself because of the TURB releasing bits of tissue. BCG is, as the others have explained, a protocol for treating high grade, non-invasive bladder cancer OR low grade that keeps returning. Occasionally Mitomycin has been used in a protocol similar to BCG .....for example when BCG was unavailable about a year ago, or if BCG doesn't work...but it is not as effective as BCG.

I think your plan to go to UTSW is an excellent one. Why not let them do the TURB?

Seems like each Uro decides the treatment with BCG depending on the individual. I was high grade, non invasive and am now starting my 2nd year of BCG every 3 months for 3 weeks. After the 2nd year I'll be on a 6 month BCG for a while. I didn't ask him when I'll be yearly, too much to think about right now. Jay
