mbmccauley: That's all you can do, keep those fingers crossed. I'm starting my 3rd year now, my first round of 3 weeks with a 6 month break starting in March, then it's finger crossing time in April. Wishing you and everyone else the best! Jay
I know this probably sounds strange but "Yahoo!"!!! I just had my 4th BCG treatment today and I'm finally feeling some side affects......burning in my bladder and a little more burning when I urinate. I'm so hoping that means it is working. I never thought I would wish for something like that just last year. You never know what's coming to get ya!
Lets hope that the 2 hour "cath in" policy is for the first BCG treatment only. My very first BCG I was told to stay in the waiting room for an hour and then I could leave after checking out with the desk - concern was a reaction to BCG.
I have only come across such a procedure for people who having problem holding the BCG in for 2 hours due to other urinary issues.
I'm not sure anyone enjoys the cath, but it is what it is, and soon you will be a pro at relaxing the right muscles (muscles you never knew you had) and easing the procedure. Its the overnight cath the crawls into my mind and wont go away.
Hang in there, you are on the mend,
What's with this Bleeding ? 6/2015

BC clear as of 5/17 !
RCC found in my one (only) kidney 10/17
Begin Chemo; Cisplatin and Gemzar
8/18 begin Chemo , round 3
Begin year 4 with cis
BCG is very doable. I'm starting my second cycle next week and while I can't say I'm looking forward to it, I'm not filled with dread. I agree with the others, water and chicken soup/broth after instillation does wonders. I always get a huge thing of wonton soup if that's your thing, works great for me.

Thanks. I'm getting my treatments at the VA here in Tucson. The policy here is to remain in the treatment room with the cath in for two hours, then they drain and remove the cath. I don't get to have the BCG placed into the bladder then remove the catheter and go home. Wish they did it that way.
