Frustrated with Doctors!!!

Hi Mary,
I go to Moffitt in Tampa. I can answer some of your questions, however, I would have the appointment already set, before I arrived in FL. Once your appointment is set, you can have all the records sent, then a team of doctors meet and review your case and discuss how you should move forward. Waiting until you get here could be a problem. If anything comes up in the meantime just cancel the appointment.
I have been very satisfied with my care, but I never hesitate to get another doctor's opinion in the past. I have had four different doctors review my case in the past 5 years. I went to Barnes hospital in St Louis for one. My doctors have been very supportive in my getting other opinions. (if they were not, I would have found another doctor).
If I can help in any way, please let me know.
Good Luck,
Nancy

time to vent? i'm sometimes frustrated with all these doctors, too.
item: how can oncologists or urologists who deal with patients with cancer all the time be so totally insensitive to a patient's EMOTIONAL stress, freaking out, etc. here you are, facing not only potentially fatal cancer but also drastic surgery -- and yet, some of them seem totally puzzled that you're stressed out to the max. heaven forbid that they should suggest some kind of counseling or a support group, if any is even available.

Mary, I can't stress enough how important it is not to let time slip away. This cancer like most other cancers is about finding it early! I am alive today because each time I have been lucky and been diagnosed early. Don't let poor Dr's cost you valuable time.
Wishing you the best.

Upstate NY! That's my neck of the woods! Just outside of Albany.

Take Mike's advice.... Get to Sloan in NYC. Don't you deserve the best? I did not have the advice of this site when I was diagnosed and I did luck into a Bladder Specialist at Albany Med who had been trained at MD Anderson in TX.

Get the best care.

Mary,

You can get all of your records and slides to them at Moffit even before that. Actually, Sloan Kettering is in NY and is tops in the country if you want to do it before Feb.

Was it "grade" 2 or "stage" 2. Makes a HUGE difference.

Good luck!
Mike

Thank you for all your suggestions and words of encouragement. I am currently in upstate NY and after Feb. 15th will be in Venice, FL. I have taken your suggestions regarding getting a second opinion and have contacted the Moffit Center in Tampa. Am currently awaiting their response to setting up an appointment once I get to FL. Have read many positive things about this cancer center and hope that someone of this site has been there too. Since being put on meds for UTI am finally realizing what it feels like not to have one. I am very hopeful that I can start my BCG treatment on Wed. of next week and yet a bit nervous in regards to side effects and trying to keep with the schedule of one per week. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to get all 6 treatments before I head south. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and again thank you for all your support.
Mary
