Good idea. Put out two coffee cans to collect tips. Label one can: "Tips to keep playing" and the other can: "Tips to stop playing".

gee i don't know Kimberly..it might be a good fund raiser. Put a hat out for contributions for bladder cancer and start playing..you'll either get a lot of money or get in faster!!

Thank you, everyone, for all the extremely helpful information. I was planning to get up really early that day (4:00 am) to get my strength training out of the way, so I figured I'd drink a lot of water prior to 5:00 am. I am going to teach the 6:00 am yoga/pilates at the gym -- which will be my last class since I'm going to get off the schedule during BCG. (I figured it might be better not to expose myself to a really germ-y place while the BCG is going on.) That gives me 2 hours before the appointment to enjoy my oatmeal, and let the rest of the day play itself out.

Field & Stream  Between my knitting and the various tomes on menopause that I'm currently reading, I can keep myself happily occupied. I sure wish I could bring my cello, because it requires focus and might be a good distraction. Although it might be a bad distraction for everyone in the uro's office ...

I've found that I don't need to avoid drinking for 4 hours before getting the BCG; I usually just refrain from drinking for two hours, and have never had a problem holding the BCG for 2 hours. But, everyone's experiences are different. I'm with Sara Anne on needing my morning coffee, so if they need to schedule me for the morning, I ask that it be 10 or after so I don't have to get up too early to have that cup of coffee!

Lately, I've asked for afternoon appointments; it dawned on me that if I had a morning appointment, I had to miss more work in order to stay home and put chlorox in the toilet for 8 hours. Last week my appointment for a maintenance dose of BCG was at 3pm, and it worked out well.

Best of luck, and we're here if you have any more questions or concerns.

Ann

P.S. My uro's office has good (and up to date) magazines but they usually run pretty close to schedule, especially for the BCG treatment appointments, so I don't get to read many!

Small TA Grade 1, May-06; recur (2 tiny), same, June-08; TURBTs both times. BCG begun July-08, dosage to 1/3rd May-10, completed treatment December-11. All clear since 2008.

You know, I never even noticed what magazines they have since I always bring a book. I think I remember Newsweek being there though. :)

I suggest bringing a nice book along for the waiting room and while you're in the exam room waiting for the doctor. :)

Sara,

You nailed it! The important thing for Kimberly is to take an inventory of magazines. LOL. It IS TRUE that they ALL have "Field and Stream". I wanna know why!

And, yes while BCG can be uncomfortable it usually not horrible!

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.
