Hi Viv, I had the myto after my turb ( I had five tumors) my local uro recommeded bcg but I went to john Hopkins and they did a wait and watch. A year later I had a small neoplasm removed , this time they did not use the myto.
I just had my cysto and there is no sign of cancer , so it has been two years clean. ( my how time flies) I know this seems wrong to some people but I am going to one of the top places and one of the top guys in the field of bc.and following his advice.

Vi,

I'm sure Dr. Wilson can give you an opinion on that Vi.

Given that you had another tiny one come back, it seems like it would make sense to do a mitomycin wash after the TURB. That would help prevent any seeding (which may or may not be the cause of the second tumor). There is a such a high rate of recurrence even for low grade tumors that it is impossible to tell if there was seeding or just a recurrence.

Playing the numbers though, I would certainly at least ask about it.

Vi,

I am sure different Docs will prefer different protocols. I like ones that offer a couple of options with strategies. Just keep asking questions: what if, how, what are side affects/probablilities, best case scenario/worst etc. Not sure any of this makes any sense as I almost always think of a question to ask after I see my URO-LOL at myself.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

I keep reading different procedures done and it seems to vary by doctor. That is another thing I will ask on Friday when I talk to the doctor at the university.
I can sure understand waiting if possible, since your body sometimes changes in its reaction to chemo or other treatments.

Hi Vi,
How's it going, have you been back yet?
I had pTa G2 & following TURBT x6 MMC bladder instilations.
I go for further TURBT on Friday, so fingers crossed for us both & all.
