We got the VA advocate on board. She cancelled the cysto until the dr ses me personally and GOES OVER my records with me. The next step is up in the air. Our prayer is that they will be amicable to outsourcing me do to all my health issues.

Britt, Like others said, make sure to get he gell. I had two scopes done already and the first one had a TV monitor attached. The second one was I think a cheaper scope with out a monitor. The thing that I noticed was that the diameter of the cheap one was smaller by maybe 2mm. I could tell it didn't hurt as much. I do have a restiction were my prostate is. Also the cheap one has a rounded end compared to the other that has a blunt nose.

I bet you could find a Dr that would do it for free. Or take payments. It takes less than five minutes.

Good luck. I feel for you.

Britt, this is so typical of Gov't-run facilities. Scares the h--- out of me about what's coming with this talk of Nationalized Medicine. I still think you need to find another opinion, be it inside the VA or in private practice. But the thought of hearing "we don't got yer records" or somesuch is very depressing for a patient to hear. You are personally going through way to much as-is and don't need to hear THAT!

I think it depends on which VA hospital you are being seen at. I've heard good thigns about some of them and not so good about others.

Where are you?

I didnt see the dr, he was in surgery. I got to talk to a PA for about 15 min. We briefly went over my history. They have no records, I was told they migt have been sent directly to records rather than input. SO basically all I could tell him was that I was found to have a noninvasive surface cancer and that it was all removed. He wants to start over again. We will try to do another cysto in the lab to see if they can get it past my prostrate. If that doesnt work theyll do a general again. I would much prefer the simple version! My wife chimed in and asked if it would be possible to see a specialist instead. That hit a brick wall! We were told that the dr was a specialst and that most of what he dealt with were cancer patients. They took a urine sample and scheduled my for the cysto on the 8th of April.
On the way home the fight started. My wife just doesnt want me to even have the scope done by VA. My nereves are shot between worries about my health and getting yelled at.
I just dont know how we could get it done outside VA. We just dont have the funds or ins. I keep trying to tell her a dr wont keep treating me if he isnt being payed.

I leave in a few minutes for my first consult with the VA Urologist, I hope its not a run around as I am over 90 days since I had the surgery.
