After completing a Medrol Dosepak, I suspect it didn't help... except that I can't know how much worse I would have felt if I didn't take it. Anyway 14½ hours till surgery. Whoopee!

Never tried it. If it helps, even though it doesn't mean I can ignore the stricture, it gives me something to help the symptoms until the treatment. Sometimes it's crucial that a person be symptom-free. Like for my daughter's wedding in February.

So here's the story. I'm scheduled for a cold knife urethrotomy and injection of steroid into the stricture on Thursday, 12/11. That's almost another week, and the pain won't be gone right after the surgery. It might even be worse before it gets better.
My urologist says that most people with urethral strictures don't experience the kind of pain I get. In fact, some don't even know they have a stricture. So the question is, why does my stricture get so inflamed? My urologist doesn't know.
They say a physician who treats himself has a fool for a patient, but I thought I'd try something. I have to stop taking the Advil because of the upcoming surgery. So I was thinking - steroids are potent anti-inflammatories and don't affect bleeding like aspirin or Advil. So I decided to try a short course of steroids - a Medrol dosepak.
I'll let you know what happens.
