Cas I had a stent placed in for 2 weeks at the time of my first turb also because of the tumor location. I also had another in for 7 weeks after a second turb. I had no back pain, however because of the location, scar tissue and reaction to BCG, (formed like a pile of crust on top of the tumor site) the stent was necessary. There was no subsequent tumor that was causing the problems.

i had a question about stents in the ureter. last november my dad had a tumor removed that was at the entrance to his ureter. he had back pain after tumor removed and had an ultrasound that showed kidney swelling. this was result of tumor location and the doctor wanted the swelling to resolve on its own. on his followup turb in december the doctor placed a stent in ureter that was kept in for one month. he was fine until march when he developed back pain. at that time another ultrasound was done along with an IVP and placement of another stent for one week. doctor felt that problem with ureter due to scar tissue or maybe bcg reaction. my dad had CT scan in May for back pain again. nothing done at that time. during all this time his 3 month followup checks were clean. he had initial 6 week BCG feb-march and 3 week maintenence in july/aug. a little over one month ago had back pain again. ultrasound was done that showed kidney swelling. at time of his 3 month check up at begining of nov doctor wanted to place larger stent in and also remove "white fuzzy thing" that was suspicious. (white thing turned out to be negative for new tumor). last week doctor wanted to put in new stent that i believe was supposed to help stretch out ureter. he also had another IVP. doctor could not do it because openening was not big enough so a radiologist will do it at some point by going through his back. my dad said he was told ureter constricted. in the last year my dad has had 4 ultrasounds, two ivps and one ct scan. the doctor has said nothing about a tumor but i can not help wonder what is going on. the back pain is on and off and sporadic, my dad seems to go months without a problem. sorry this is long winded but i guess i just wanted to know if there was anyone out there with similair problems. his cystos have all been clean (except for the white fuzzy thing that turned out negative-so that one was clean also) and he just had his one year mark of being clean. thanks.
