how long is too long to wait for a doc in the office

I would think that this is unacceptable. IF there are other competent urologists available, in a different office, I would move pronto. Occasionally, a doctor will have an emergency and a long wait happens, but in my experience they always explain what happened to the patient. If it is a routine occurence, I wouldn't accept it.
Once, when I was having hand surgery with the best guy in the state, I was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. About when I expected to go into the OR, the nurse came and explained that there had been a bad auto accident and the hand surgeon had been called in. They kept me posted throughout the afternoon and I finally had my surgery at 6 p.m. The nurse later explained that they had been about to amputate a lady's hand but that my surgeon had been called in and had saved it for her. I was glad to wait!!
