Had a conversation with my Uro's office today, not him directly, and as expected they would not admit any wrongdoing. Insisted their procedures made it almost impossible for the scope to be at fault. They spray the genital area with "iodine" and according to them that removes any bacteria that I brought in... ??? At any rate, I am feeling better, played 18 holes of golf today. Fever elevated to 100 after that so now I am resting. Still on Cipro... this is day 5 of the UTI, but only day 3 of the Cipro.

Appreciate the comments... Bill ;D

Dear Bill,
Any instrumentation of the urinary tract carries with it the risk of a UTI. Not only must the scope be clean, but most urologists clean the head of the penis with betadine to be sure no germs will be introduced with the scope. Still, it happens... often enough that even though every precaution of cleanliness should be taken, a UTI doesn't imply proper cleanliness.

Bill, I think any time a cysto is done there is a risk of infection which is probably why your Uro gave you a antibiotic. I also think the UTIs can be difficult to get rid off. Last year Dick was having UTI's about every 3 weeks each one about a week after the last dose of Cipro.

Bill,

Congratulations on the clean cysto. I only wish that at least one of mine could be clear --- especially the one I'm having next week. I don't mind much that a few TA Papillary tumors pop up on these poke and peeks; it's the recurring CIS that worries me.
As far as UTI after cysto, I haven't had that problem so maybe the instrument he used wasn't clean (but don't expect him to appreciate any insinuation that it wasn't clean ;) )

Bill, that is still good news. I will take a UTI over a tumor any day.
