Dear Sara Ann,

Sorry. I guess you do have to be able to read between the lines a little with those slides.

Yes, Maintenance BCG seems to be important to treatment.

You sound like you are on the ball. Please keep us posted as to how it goes.

Best regards,
Rosemary

Rosemary, I have gone over these slides now twice and find them hard to decipher without the oral presentation as well. I do get from them that the odds are MUCH better with BCG maintenance protocol. I have already discussed this with my uro and he is "reseaching" the cases.

Thanks for the info.

Thought you might be interested to see what the recommends were on Dr. Lamm's site,
here....

BLADDER CANCER CHEMOPREVENTION

(I couldn't copy and paste, so please see the above reference)

Vit A, B6, C. D, E, Folic Acid, C+K3
Allium Sativum - Garlic
NSAIDS - Cox 2 Inhibitors
DMFO
Oltipraz
Selenium
Soy Protein - Green Tea

I'm a little surprised to see the Soy Protein on this list. When I asked my 2nd Opinion Doctor, a Bladder Cancer Researcher himself,

"Is Bladder Cancer estrogen dependent? Should I be avoiding soy products?"

His intelligent and honest answer was,

"We don't know."

When I was first diagnosed, the local nutritionist suggested that I take the Essiac tea. It was $40.00 a bottle for the syrup. I bought my first bottle from the nutritionist and then ordered 6 bottles off of the internet for about $200.00.

If I were to add $20.00 a month for Oncovite, we are already up to that much money per month to try to ward off cancer.

What can I say? When you are that scared you do it. And then, after that, you just do what you can afford to do.

It just seems to me, that if these folks are really trying to help people to stay alive, they could maybe put some moderation on their prices.

That's all.

Did the Essiac help me??? No one can tell me. But, I haven't had recurrance. I might not have had recurrance anyway.....

Rosemary

I agree that the cost of the vitamin supplement is a bit much.

Even more of "a bit much" have been the copies of the bills from the hospital for my two TURB procedures....over $8000 each, not including the uro or anesthesiologist! For example, a pharmacy charge of over $200 (not including ivs which were billed separately) when all I got was one vicodan and one bladder anesthestic pill!! Fortunately, I don't pay this, but is it any wonder our medical system is in a mess when this is the charge for an afternoon in the hospital?
