Sara Anne,

Yes, I have always had general anesthesia in each of the four TURBT's over the past year --- I definitely would NOT want to try it without anesthesia :-\

GREAT NEWS!!

My wife and I just returned from the Doctor's office and the pathology report showed just the small Papillary TA tumor which was removed during the TURBT but NO CIS :) We are very happy!!! We can look forward to more papillary tumors but hopefully no high grade CIS. I have a cysto scheduled in 6 weeks so we'll see what happens. I guess having to cope with TURBT's several times a year is not so bad... ;)

Thanks everyone who passed along all the good wishes :)

The journey continues...

Becky,

Here's the definition of CIS from the "Read this first" section of our forum.

Note: Carcinoma in situ (CIS) -a flat type of tumor that usally shows up alongside other tumor types- is considered aggressive/grade III in all diagnoses of bladder cancer.

In my own experience, CIS usually appears in conjunction with the less aggressive papillary tumors.

Hope I didn't confuse you.
