I had my first TURB with mitomycin last August. I had burning for 1-2 weeks, I had frequent trips to the restroom but overall no big deal. I was back to work in a day. My bladder did not return to what I would all normal for about 5 - 6 weeks. I have had 2 clear cystos since the July TURB. All my best,

Thanks for all the great replies. This has really been my only side effect from it, but I have only had the one dose. It's not unbearable but just wanted to make sure it was normal. Thanks, I love that we are able to help others through this site.

I am also new here...I start my first round of mitomycin next week (Monday) and also worried about the side effects. My urologist gives the impression that it is no big deal. I was first diagnosed in July of 2005 and just finished with my second surgery for a reoccurence. I guess I am looking for some reasurance that this treatment is less painful thant the TOR. :

I suspect different folks react to Mitomycin in different ways. I did have burning for a week.. and when I tried to have weekly mitomycin put in, I really reacted to it and only took 5 instead of 6. Tried a treatment of 3 six months later and could only tolerate 2 treatments.. burning lasted about 10 days after just 2 treatments. I told my Uro, no more of that stuff for me...

Hang in there.. it will go away.. my Uro never offered me anything to alleviate the burning...!!!
