Ouuuuch!!! What a nightmare :-X You are a very brave person to have undergo this type of torture. It's never a good sign when the doc performing the procedure breaks out in sweat. Hope you don't have an emergency. Good luck on the surgical procedure. So sorry you had to go through this.

Well, Folks! Here's the story. On Wednesday they canceled my appointment because my urologist was ill. They rescheduled me for this afternoon. Things did not go well. At first he thought the stricture would be easy to deal with, but I could see he was starting to break a sweat (not an encouraging thing to see) and things were not progressing. So he had to take out the filiform and take another look with the scope. It turns out that what he thought would be easy was just a membrane and there was a heavier stricture behind it. So he reintroduced the filiform and tried again. After a few more tries with the smallest follower he advised that we couldn't proceed. So, I have all the discomfort of a procedure and none of the benefit, and have to schedule an operative procedure on the stricture followed by a cystoscopy at that time. And heaven help me if i can't pee any time before then, because a catheter can't be inserted through my tight stricture.

Here's hoping you can keep your 8 year streak of being cancer free going. Sorry you have to endure the discomfort of dilation and cysto --- and of course the anxiety of having to wait. We are pulling for you.

Just went for my cysto. So encouraged with the last couple where they (and the FISH) came back negative. Bladder looks good except for this little smooth bump! No idea what it is. Damn here goes the worry again! Waiting for the tests to come back now.

I am commiserating with you and know that I feel like ripping someone's head off a few days before the cysto. (makes for a nasty HR person which is what my profession is!).

My husband is so sweet and caring and this time said - maybe you should just get it out instead of going through this each time! Not sure when one gives in. Just feel so guilty putting him through all of this.

Warren, I have read your posts. They have been a source of encouragement and information. One step at a time. As hard as this journey is - we have to remember that. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I am sure that you are well taken care of, and I hope that everything comes back ok. If I had to choose between the dilation and cancer, I would more than likely go with the dilation! Keep us posted, and we will keep you in our thoughts!
