Don,

Thanks so much for the info. My redness was over a at least half the bladder wall, so hopefully it's ok. I hope all is going well for you.

On the 2 cystos following my TURB, there was redness in the area of tumor removal. Rather than take any chances, my doc biopsied the area after the second observation & the result was negative. The next cysto was clear, but the following one, on 12/31/07, revealed a recurrence of tumor in that same area. I don't know if the redness is indicative of anything, but it seems to me that it bears watching.

Warren,
I appreciate the your comments. The redness seems to be a mystery. I know my urologist had no idea what it was from, and because of that was concerned. I don't recall if he did any biopsies of the red area. I'm curious to see if it is still there on this cysto, many years since the last one and about 2 years post hysterectomy. After reading your comments, I doubt my idea about fibroids was accurate! I don't think I've ever had a UTI except whatever I have now. I'll post if this urologist has any answers about the redness. Thanks for your reply.

Dear LindaOz,
I've had redness on cystoscopy many times. There is always a concern that redness could be CIS, so I have had several follow-up TURBs with biopsies which were, fortunately, negative. I have not been on BCG and my original treatment with Mitomycin C was almost 7 years ago, so it would not account for redness seen most recently. I have had only one UTI (urine infection) and that was shortly after removal of the cancer.

I'm just curious if anyone has had a lot of redness found on the bladder walls during cystoscopy when you haven't had BCG treatment. For several years on cystoscopy I had a lot of redness and throughout the dome of the bladder, in the area of the original cancer which confused my urologist. I did have huge fibroids so it was believed to be caused by those. I've since had a total hysterectomy with removal of fibroids, so it will be interesting to see if the redness remains on my cystoscopy scheduled for next week. Has anyone had this redness?
