Thank you for your responses. We have an appointment with a local oncologist, as well as one in Cleveland. We are praying that someone will take on my husband's case. It's really our only hope.

Maria this has to be hard on you. See losing that one kidney well that was not a help but the fact that the other kidney level is at 2.0 and it should be around .7 to 1.5 so it is sligthly high. Now the problem you are going to find with any good oncologist is doing chemo alot of chemo drugs are very toxic to the kidneys and now your husband is missing one and the other is not working up to par. You are going to find it hard to get an oncologist because of that one kidney. See Maria before each chemo treatment they check your blood levels and creatine is one of them and that needs to be in the norm no higher then 1.5 they like to see it at 1.0 plus the platelets and they got to be above 40,000 minimum or they won't do the chemo and some oncologists are at 50,000. I know you are in Mi. but I can give you the link to my oncologist at the Univ of Penn in Phila and if nothing else find out whether he might consider taking the case or being in his field refer you to someone closer to you in your area, these guys get around pre-med. It's worth the call the call and it is free so I would check it out. Joe ;)

I wish I knew what to advise. We just found out my husband possibly has metastatic bladder cancer as a nodule in his lung is positive for carcinoma. The pathology reports stated possible metastasis. He is seeing a thoracic surgeon tomorrow. He has yet to meet with the urological oncologist. I don't know if he will be eligible for chemo as he has renal insufficiency due to diabetes.

Have you checked with the Mayo clinic in Rochester, MN. Many people on the Bladder Cafe list speak of going to W D Anderson in Houston, TX.

My husband was recently diagnosed with metastatic bladder cancer. Due to nephrosis, one kidney had to be removed. Since his creatinen is still at 2.0, the oncologist says he is not a chemo candidate. We are now scrambling to find an oncologist that will take his case.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

We live in Lansing, MI. Does anyone know where we can seek treatment? We would like a second or third opinion and refuse to give up.

Has anyone had any experience with the cancer center in Ann Arbor or in Cleveland? Can you recommend any oncologists that might at least consider our case?

Thank you for any advice. We are desperate.
