Jean, thanks for your reply. All of you out there on this site have really helped take away the feeling of being alone - it's truly amazing.

And Rosemary, thank-you to you as well.

The meeting with the cancer agency went well today. Mom said she felt it was positive. We were all (myself and my two older brothers) impressed by the medical oncologist who specializes in this type of cancer. I've put the sound out for references on him just to be sure. I've got well connected colleagues in the cancer world, which is nice to know.

She'll start chemo in 3 weeks. Next steps are a CT scan and bone scan. They confirmed her at stage IV and grade III.

Let the fighting begin!!!!

Am going to post another questioning the chemo cocktail they're going to start my mom on - I'm really interested to see what feedback I get!

Cheers,
Sara

Sara,
My granddaughter is 31 and she and my daughter, along with 2 sons and a great daughter-in-law were with me through my whole "journey" as they refer to it and they were such a comfort to me. They were also a great source of strength for my husband who needed reassurance from time to time. Just knowing you are there for her will give your Mom such strength and comfort. I am sending her all of my best. I hope she comes to the forum and joins us when she is feeling better.
Blessings....Jean

Hi all,

I've been reading through this site over the last few weeks and found it to be the most helpful and understandable, hands down. I have finally jumped into the forum and registered myself. So, here I am and very much looking forward to giving and receiving as much support as possible.

Mom was disagnosed on Nov 15th. She had her RC on Dec 12th and returned home on Dec 20th. She's 65. I'm 31 and the youngest of 4 kids. She's the healthiest person I know, coming down with as much as a cold every 2 or 3 years, if that. All we know at this point is that, based on this info provided in this site, she is stage IV.

Our first appointment with the Cancer Agency (www.bccancer.bc.ca) is tomorrow. I was undecided on whether or not I would attend with her and my brothers. But after reading more pages and conversations tonight, I've decided to go. This site and the knowledge it provides me with helps more than words can describe.

Will keep you all posted.

Cheers,
Sara
