When I read your post that old saying popped into my head "2 steps forward & 3 back"- I'm so sorry you are having all these difficulties. I hope they can get things straightened out so your hubby can play golf. Mine was a golfer as well- last year he got out a couple of times but now.......
You are in our thoughts.
Take care, Lorrie

Well, today, they will insert a catheter that will go from his clavicle to a spot several inches away that will allow for dialysis. He saw a different nephrologist from the practice yesterday. This senior physician was appalled that he had been admitted, joking that it was really not necessary to spoil his golf game to bring him in! They are saying his kidneys are bad, but that he does not need immediate dialysis. The catheter insertion simply anticipates that he will be at that point soon enough, although it could be up to a month away.

The bad news--we had a terrible scare that apparently was not justified. The good news--we found a better nephrologist to work with him on his future treatments.

Have to go. Doggies go to the groomers, I go to the hospital. Thanks for the good words.

Judy, I truly understand the anguish and the FEAR. However, I have been told by several cancer therapists to try to enjoy the intense good moments and to realize, we can be together, enjoy as much as possible ,in the moment, and understand that this disease is like a "patchwork Quilt"...we repair, mend ,go on and keep adding the patches to make a whole blanket....sorry if it sounds corny.. I am just trying to say we can mend and enjoy in the moment.

Judy,
So sorry to hear about your latest news. This disease is terrible and every time we feel like we have turned a corner, there is something else waiting. I feel your pain and will keep you and Cole in my prayers.

Well, now it’s time for the other shoe to drop. My husband’s doctor phoned. They did a renal test yesterday prior to giving him a new prescription for his blood pressure medicine. It showed a dramatic drop in his kidney function and now he is being admitted to our local hospital this afternoon to begin dialysis.

I have been crying for a couple hours since I learned of this. Today, he joined his buddies for golf for only the second time since his surgery last October. He has been so depressed and worried, and I was so happy that he was again doing some of the things that pleased him in the past. Right now, the golf pro is driving the course to locate him so he can come home to meet with our local doctor. He still doesn’t know of this new development.

I don’t have any idea what the dialysis will entail, but apparently there is no getting around it. I am very worried about Cole and how this will impact him emotionally. He’s been through so much (prostate cancer in 2007, bladder cancer in 2008), that this news will devastate him.

Thanks, guys, for being there.
Judy
