Stephany, i'm sorry the chemo isn't working. Chemo is so hard on a person and then to find out that it has not made an impact must be doubly hard. I don't have any recommendations about how to deal with the news all I can say is we just sort of stuffed it under the rug. Too much to deal with on a day to day basis to deal with how long Dick will last. I don't know how much I want to know about the potential course of the disease. At times I think sure we want to know because that will help make him comfortable and then I think what difference will it make when it all comes down to pain meds anyway.
I'm sure it breaks you heart to see your husband in the shape he is in now. I'm praying for you and Doran. Julie

Stephany, I am so sorry. Take your time coming to terms with those numbers- it's been quite a shock I'm sure. Bob is having another CT next week to see what is going on with him. The Chemo has started to affect his kidneys. the Oncologist is changing one of the Chemo drugs. I asked if all the interruptions to the Chemo schedule was nullifying the good it does & her reply that it certainly wasn't ideal. What is Alimta? I wonder if that's where we will be headed as well.
Get some sleep- take care- Lorrie

Just an update for you all. Doran's oncologist says the ct scan shows no help from the chemo, so we're on to Plan B....Alimta. Either the drug company will comp us, or we'll pay for it ourselves. We'll try four cycles, and then reassess. If the Alimta isn't working, then we'll go on to a clinical trial.

There is a clinical trial at the university, Phase 1, for Anthracycline Analog GPX-150.

I've got the packet, and am going to read it when I have a little more time to get my head around the news.

The oncologist says that he probably has about 6-12 months, so we're just dealing with that news right now.
