Susan, I did have a good time. When I told Dick where I was going for lunch he said "Lucky You." So I brought a Chopped Pork sandwich home with me for him. He ate the whole thing. His appetite has been depressed lately.
There is a web site for Red Hatters. I forget the URL but I'm sure there are probably some groups in your area. I expect you have had few changes to make friends between working and having cancer. Getting acquainted in a new area takes some effort. I don't think we would have done so well here except we moved into an Over 55 community with lots of social activities. Julie

Dear Susan, I am glad to know your edema has lessened. The level of edema that impairs mobility and causes shortness of breath looks pretty severe to me. Dick had an echo in September prior to the lung surgery and passed that one. The oxygen arrived yesterday so is now using it and even at the lowest dose it helps. Continued prayers for your well being.

Dear Pat, he is on a diuretic which got increased but they are monitoring his creatinine and albumen to determine if they can add more. The problem with having so many doctors is knowing who to call. I started with the Primary Care physician and the pulmonologist and it just takes so long to get a response. I don't have a medical background and learn as we go what are important signs of trouble as I have to be the one to decide whether anything is severe enough to warrant a trip to hell (any ER in town). I have to ask Dick question about how he feels to decide if he is experiencing his normal shortness of breath or is this an indication of an embolism or blood clot both of which are risks with a lot of the meds he is on.
Today I'm going out to lunch at Famous Dave's with my Red Hat group. I will have fun! Julie

Didn't know the condition already existed...yes i would definately get a doppler on the heart. Can he take a diuretic with all the other drugs he's taking? I know my mother had congestive heart failure for 17 yrs...she was a fighter.

Dear Julie -- So much to deal with! I've been having some edema issues and they
did an ecocardigram(spelling?)that came back normal and the edema had greatly lessened. I know what you mean about stiffness and shortness of breath and trouble
getting in/out of car -- Oh I hope it is resolved/resolves. And more with the blood glucose levels. My hear goes out to you and my prayers go up. In support -- Susan
