Clara -- My heart goes out to you and Bob. Has Bob had Gemzar before? It was the
gentlest chemotherapy agent I had in terms of side effects. I haven't had carboplantin but it is on the list for me as a possible (down the road or up the hill).

I did travel before and after gemzar, too. My curiosity is what beach you go to.
I used to own a beach box (amid mansions and minihotels) on Hatteras island but
we sold it just in time to (1) not feel homeless aftern Katrina, because we hadn't
closed and (2) to have a decent recovery from Katrina that took our cottege in
Mississippi with a tornando and 30 foot wall of water.

Heck, that's nothin' compared to these warrior journies!!

Clara,

Thanks for asking about Angelo...he is doing ok...this week finishing up Radiation, getting blood work, bone scan, and setting up "Hopefully" for the quadramet injection next week...

The Radiation has helped tremendously...it is 9:40 AM and he hasn't taken any "breakthough" medication since midnight last night...he does have the fentanyl 75 patch on...it seems to be taking care of the pain...

He did get a small sore on his back (the beginning of a bedsore) during the 20 days he spent in the hospital. We have been treating it with a duroderm patch and I think we have it under control, and it is healing as it should.

We did have an issue last night, Angelo woke from a dream, and thought he couldn't breathe...I checked his blood pressure, and it was right on the money 120/80. He wasn't having any trouble once he woke up, and we sat together talking for about an hour...he said that in the dream he was being buried alive...(how scary) He is resting now and I won't wake him until we have to leave for radiation.

Take care of yourself Clara...and enjoy the beach
With Love,
Karen

Julie,

Bob is on pain medicine and he is only taking about 3 breakthrough a day now. The pain ususally starts late in the afternoon/early evening. He will move from chair to chair, room to room, walk around until he can finally get settled down. Many nights he ends up in a glider and says he is most comfortable their. We have two different kinds of recliners but a glider seems to be his favorite.

I am so glad we will be in a house at the beach so he will have several options there too, inside and outside.

Thanks for caring.
Clara

Dear Clara My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time, my husband gets his butt kicked by the neulasta shot after chem also, plus the prednizone makes him fell very empty. The beach sounds like a very good place to go, warm sand , sound of the surf. We will keep you in our prayers. Rocky
