A Perfect Example Of Why A Second Opinion Is ALWAYS NECESSARY

15 years 11 months ago #16631 by momof4
Thank You Leigh,

I find writing about this therapeutic! I also feel that we are not the only ones who will, or who are dealing with these issues. I want to make this information available to someone else who may no be as "Confrontational", "Forward", or "Insistent" as I am.

I want to scream sometimes about what is going on... I actually threatened to have him discharged from the oncology floor, and told them I would bring him back through the emergency room if they didn't address the issue...I tried to explain how ridiculous this would be...they finally agreed.

Are you having bone issues? If you are, I would suggest the second opinion in this area...

Thanks for your words and support.

Hello Karen,

You are one amazing lady!!

It really is inspirational that even when you are dealing with your hubbies admission to hospital for his pain management issues and scans. You find the time to share your story with us all here at the forum.

I read your posts with great interest of course firstly for updates on Angelo and also for the great advise you offer through the experiences you are having with this journey.

I am so pleased that the MRI, and CT Scans showed little change in any other areas.

And getting that second opinion from a Orthopedic Oncologist...way to go Karen.

As you mention this really does prove that a second opinion...no matter how advanced a disease is...or how superficial something may seem to be...should be Mandatory...

Karen withing you and Angelo and your family all the very best...

Thinking of you guys....

Thank you all for your replies...Wow I am smiling at some of the responses, but I am not sharing this information for a pat on the back. I am trying to stress to everyone reading this how important it is to GET A SECOND OPINION!! If it doesn't sound right, or you get a feeling about something, go with it. Regardless of who is giving you the information...Don't ignore that little voice. If someone is going to count you out...Make sure they are qualified to count you in...

Karen,
I admire your persistance and certainly hope the radiation will help get rid of the pain.
After Bob had his last radiation, I talked to the Dr. about it because everyone had me scared that his bones might break more easily and she said the bones should start mending themselves.
Hang in there and keep everyone posted.
Love and prayers,
Clara
