Keep on being a big mouth it is the only way to get what we need. I feel like I really had to push to get people to check on the lung tumor, to check on the mass in the back. I wanted information today and did not get one word with a physician except the hematologist who thought it was a waste of time for her consult.
I decided my time is important and for my mental health I need to keep my appointments and do the recreation I have set up for myself. So my schedule is important too.

I missed seeing the home health people today, so I didn't get to arrange when they would come out. Dick has a PICC line now and will have home health once a day to set up the vancomycin and I will do the second one. I was told they will work around our schedule but I bet they want a regular appointment time. What with all the Dr. appointment I don't think we could have them come at the same time every day.
We wrote down a list of questions today so if the Dr. comes by when I'm not there Dick can ask all the questions I want answers to in addition to his concerns.
We are also going to do a little Dr. education about listening to the patient about how they handle their diabetes. They have totally screwed up Dick's blood sugars they were over 300 again this afternoon.
I think i need to go to bed I seem to be all over the map.

Yes , thats my concern as well, will it tell the tale for sure, I don't want to rushing to the Er all the time, but listen to this, he was in the er one week ago sunday, he stayed overnite, ekg was not right, today he had the test, we left and I called they said come in for results on the 19th...here we go,"A "doesn't know what "B" is doing, so I called back and said he was in overnite last week and would like to see the results tomorrow, being Wedn, thats the only day his cariologist is in, otherwise it would be next Wedn.,, I had to explain myself all over again to get in tomorrow, after the Cleveland Clinic and there expediant way they move this is hard to believe. These are our local cardiologist we are seeing, I haven't had time yet to get him in at the Cleveland Clinic Heart dept, that is there specialty along with Urology,, So all the people in the office this morning were having tests to, there previous history different from ours, but who knows that unless you tell them.
So we will know tomorrow what the test said.....because I am a big mouth,
I hope Dick is resting, you've both had a big week and its only Tuesday,,,Ginger

Dick finally had the procedure today, the plan was to put in a drain. When they removed the bandage from the site of the left nephrostomy tube it started running pus. The mass is an abscess and it had broken through to the nephrostomy tube path and out his back. The drain is in and they also put in a PICC line so I can give IV antibiotics at home plus it will make blood draws much easier.

He still ran a fever this afternoon of over 101° so it looks like it will take some time to eradicate the infection.
The other good news is there is still no congestive heart failure. Dick has symptoms that make them think he has it but no test has every shown any sign of it. There is still fluid on his lungs from the tumor removal and they want him on more diuretics to help get rid of it.
It is a mixed blessing to have him in the hospital as his blood sugar levels get levels get all messed up. It should not be up to us to do diabetes education but he should not have blood sugars so high. Tonight it was 346 because they did not give him his Lantus this morning and too little Novalog for the meal he ate.

I sure hope we don't have any more unexpected infections to content with for a long time.
This was another week with appointments every day and I had to postpone them 3 of them. I hope he will be out in time to see the retina specialist on Thursday.

Ginger, i hope Gene passes the stress test. I don't know the risks of heart caths will the stress test answer the questions that need answers?

Julie,

Sorry to hear of your hospital visit, and now spending your time waiting, we seem to do alot of waiting. I will have you in my prayers, my husband is having a medicated stress test tomorrow 11:00 am, he may have more heart trouble, he wouldn't stay in for a heart cath last week after spending the nite for heart attack possibilities. He was afraid to stay and didn't want the procedure, so tomorrow will tell the story. Take care, I will be thinking of you. Ginger
