Really a helpful letter for those still waiting. For me, I have had to take another road, implant. The nerve still works but the rest doesn't. One out of two isn't bad in these circumstance, I don't think. ;)

Great picture thanks, this image came at the right time for me - as I had no idea how these nerves looked or behaved like. The description of wet tissue really shows how difficult these nerves are to work with for a surgeon. I've had a nerve sparing R.C. three months ago now, and am going through the long and winding road to having "lead in my pencil"! and this image helps me to be a little more patient

Winning the battle :-)

My surgeon said he felt confident that he spared my nerve. He said he has had men take up to 2 years to gain their first erection. Blood flow to the nerves somtime takes time and quite a bit of activity. Viagra and stimulation is his secret to success. I told him last week that it was two months down twenty-two to go. I haven't given up hope. My wife seems up for the challenge too.

nice clear illustration Joe. It's not surprising it's difficult!

On the way to the penis, the nerves pass across and adhere fully to the prostate gland. Lifting them from the gland has been compared to peeling a wet tissue, undamaged, from a surface, which is why the skill of the surgeon is crucial. Even if successful, the nerves can still suffer "trauma" that may require additional time for recovery.

Why you need an excellent surgeon and some luck from that surgeon tis not an easy task appears to be very crucial. Joe
