Jack,

I am so happy you are here and posting keep up the good work! I understood you have non invaive blc but you stated you had stage 2 could you mean you had grade 2 blc? Pathology is confusing for most of us so here is a link to an expanation of what the terms mean if you are interested in the subject.

Hi There

I had stage 2 bladder cancer. I have had 3 operations, over a 3 year period, followed by 6 weekly BCG treatments after each operation, in fact after the last operation I had the 6 weekly treatments, followed by 12 monthly treatments of BCG.
Since I started the monthly BCG treatments I have had no tumors reappear.
I am now 1 year cancer free!
I understand what your husband is going through with the pain in the bladder and the pain and buring while urinating.
I go through 3-4 days of this pain and burning after each BCG treatment.
Since my Doc put me on medications following each treatment, the pain and buring is far less, but still there. I also was suffering from many bladder infections, but they have disappeared since I started the medications 6 months ago.
My Doc (Uroglist) told me that the pain and buring are normal, and that I should be thankful that I get this, as it proves that the BCG is working.
You are wise to keep in contact with your Doc about the pain and buring.
Ask him about the meds taht are available for the burning and for infections, trust me the meds work.
I hope I have helped you some.
Regards,
Jack Moon

Just wanted to give an update regarding my wonderful husband that has endured this so far. He has completed the first round of 6 BCG treatments. He had to stop for several weeks in between the 3rd and the 4th treatment. He had blood in his urine and had started an antibiotic for an infection. He was able to continue though and finish the 6th treatment. The biggest issue he had was the nurses doing the catheter to administer the BCG - some (nurses) were more gentle than others. This made a difference with him to how much his prostate area hurt after the treatment. I do hope that I am not being to blunt with my explanation. My husband is now scheduled for his next CT scan and cystoscopy is for July 18th. He has been having some burning and pain lately and I pray that all is well. I will say they did a prostate exam mid-way through the treatments and all seemed to be ok. I thank everyone for their thoughts. I wish I could be of more insight to others on this board, but we are still new to this.
