Today Ginger and I went to the Cleveland Clinic for our appt.. As usual the Cleveland Clinic continues to impress me with there procedures on any issue involving bladder cancer and getting back your life.
Today: The nurse injected me with the 3 different components.( all mixed in one dose) I received 4 units. as we waited she measured blood flow, within 10 minutes I had a erection comparatively the same as what I had before bladder cancer.
She explained that the dose is measured by what is comfortable for you without going beyond what is necessary. The injection spot was on the side of the penis and I had no pain with it. I did feel some discomfort later, by the time we left the erection was beginning its down cycle which they prefer to happen before you leave the hospital. She also explained that nerve sparing does not always mean if its done that its a sure thing, it could be 2 years then the percentage could be low. They advise using this only 3 times a week, not anymore, and we are to call and let them in on how its going to chart our progress. Refills are done only thru them. In other words they keep a close eye on how much your using in a certain time frame, precautionary I am sure...
The nurse then had me fill the syringe myself and inject a dummy sort a speak. While I was comfortable with the procedure I am left to try on my own. Also these shots are to be done only after 24 hours of each other.
Well I was apprehensive about this shot I can say its like the surgery, not so scary afterall.. and for the first time in 8 months I had an erection.
