I was recently diagnosed with TCC, Grade 3, at least Stage 2. I'm 60 years old, and otherwise in good health. I will have to have a radical CT, but it hasn't been scheduled yet.
For the last seven years I have been using either Androderm or Androgel (Androgel for the last three years). My testosterone is about 150 without Androgel, and about 500 with it.
When I found out that I had bladder cancer (2 weeks ago), I stopped using the Androgel. I stopped doing a lot of things (like drinking beer and eating fried foods). Now I would like to resume Androgel, and I can't find any reason not to. The urologist's written instructions after the tumor resection said to resume my medications (Nexium and Androgel), but I did not discuss Androgel with him specifically.
The urologist says that my prostate is normal in size, and there is nothing on the CT scan. I haven't had any other tests yet. I'm waiting for my appointment with a surgeon at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa on December 14.
Do any of you use Androgel? Have any of you been advised to discontinue or to continue with Androgel after your diagnosis?
Thanks in advance.
Dan
