Margot.....our good wishes go out to you and Harry. My husband had the r/c surgery about eight weeks ago. Keep in touch with this group of people. You will find a great deal of wisdom.

Ginger, It is still early days & it will be a long haul, but well worth it.
I am hoping that with each new day Gene is feeling better a stronger. Thinking of you both & all the best.

Margot, I wish your husband well & will be thinking of you both on Monday, I think the waiting is the worst part & I am sure once the op is over & the recovery process has began, you will work though it together, all the best.

Cathy. ;)

Ginger - I just wanted to thank you again for your posts. My husband Harry will be admitted to Stanford Hospital this coming Sunday with RC surgery scheduled for Monday 10/1. He, of course, is getting nervous, as am I, however, reading your posts have helped (even the days that weren't so great - just to know there are others who are going through it). We will get through it together day-by-day. We will also be counting our blessings along the way. You and Gene continue in our prayers. Margot S.

Gene has been home 4 days now from his stay at the Cleveland Clinic for a r/c.
I wanted to reflect on what was told to me by Joe another member. His words slow down as its not a piece of cake and patience will be on your side. Words well spoke as today Gene is walking the diveway with me a couple times a day but we are realizing that indeed all who have this surgery will face this recovery process.
I being Genes wife had a sad day myself, only because I see he is just a little shocked that his ability to do much is what it is. So today we are grateful for these things, surgery that went well, a good path report, sitting in the back yard on these sunny days, our children for mowing our grass, and weed wacking as well, my ability to stay home with him having my office in my home, grandchildren who brighten our days, that we are more fortuneate than most, and we have each other.
After all the talk of neo's , bags, pouches, caths, stoma's, there is a new advertiure when its over, getting better. Find peace in yourselves and your family and be grateful for recovery. BUT ITS NOT A PIECE OF CAKE!!!
We are grateful the Cleveland Indians won their division so now we can be involved with post season baseball. It gives use something else to look forward too. It all helps!!!
