Patricia, I beg to differ with you. Water-based personal lubricants that do not contain petroleum jelly work fine, including not only KY Jelly, but the generic brands at drug store chains such as Walgreen's and CVS.

I speak from personal experience. Because of recurring scar tissue, I have been self-catheterizing 4+ times a day for most of the last 6 months.

I bet that would be as uncomfortable as one of those "peppermint soaps" that feel like a peppermint pattie in your shorts! :-X

Especially--especially!--do not be seduced by the commercials with the very happy couple using the "sensual warming" version. You definitely do not want to cath with the sensual warming version.
