I know you dread yet another "procedure" but it sounds as if your doctor is trying to protect you from further complications and has your best interests in mind. Best wishes for things to go great and let us know how you are feeling when you can.

Best wishes... Catherine

My Dad had one inserted when he started having trouble with blood clots when his bladder cancer recurred. It was a fairly simple procedure for which they went in through his groin and placed the filter using CT. Interventional radiologists did the procedure. He never knew it was there. It is a great way to prevent large clots from migrating upward from the legs and lower body.

Has anyone on this forum had an IVC filter placed? Have there been any problems and how long has it been in place? My surgeon wants me to have one placed before my surgery. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
