I am home and the reattachment surgery went very well. 3 1/2 hrs surgery and I didnt need any pouch alterations. The pathology came back NEG so I feel very blessed. Dr Smith found many hernias and repaired them but he said the fascia was in bad shape. I had 3 bad days of uncontrolled pain in the hospital and I had dry heaving which tore sutures and I could feel the them opening and the blood draining out. How frustrating when I just had all that surgery to repair them. I have to wait for complete healing and then the Dr will be able to assess the damage. Cynthia thank you for your info and I will have to learn what tests I should be having in the future to keep monitoring the ureter.

Cynthia, once more your words are soothing. My husband after 5 years clear of bc with a stoma and attached ileal conduit, finds out yesterday that ureter is blocked and doc says "itlooks like the real thing" He wull have biopsy on 3.22 to look see and take a stage and grade. Was your bockage appearing as an enlargement in ureter on CT scan? How did they find it? and was it canceroous? I am OUT OF MY MIND! Ct scan says enlargement of ureter in left pelvis area.

Good news the recovery was much quicker than having an RC. Mine became blocked and they went in and removed the blocked portion and reattached. I had a stent for a while and had that removed through the stoma. I was dreading them taking out the stent but it was really quick and no pain. I had a few problems as they did a revision of the pouch due to scar tissue that had nothing to do with the ureter surgery. But all in all it is a memory of three years ago so far so good. I have blood work every two months to check on kidney function looking for the canary in the mine so to speak to make sure it is not closing off again because I am down to one kidney. Hope all goes well for you and that your keep us updated. You are to the place you have so much experience to share I hope we see you posting more often to help out the newbies.

Funny!!!Thanks Sara Anne!! Well for the last year and half I have been having lots of flank pain on and off. I went to the Dr and he would blame it on my weight saying I just needed to lose weight. Then I became very sick infection, vomiting, fever and finally a diagnosis. So now on to surgery. I sure hope recovery is faster than RC.
