Sadly, pain meds do cause constipation. I'm now having fair results with Milk of Mag, every night along with 2 stool sofners. I force a movement as nec.

I'm 70, retired heat/air contractor. After 4 months of keymo ileal conduit (IC) surgery removed bladder & prostate May 2010

Hubby continues to have problems with constipation and is now complaining that whenever he eats, no matter what it is, he has stomach pain. He has been taking Miralax and Senecot but it doesn't seem to help so now the doctor has prescribed a prescription for a stool softener.

My question is have you changed your diet and added more fiber or what have you done to help with this. What has worked for you in relieving the constipation. He continues to be on pain meds and anti-nausea when he has chemo and they both cause constipation.

We go again on Thursday, September 20th and he will talk to the doctor more about it.

Thanks!
