Exercise??

Exercise is the key to recovery indeed. I did not have much time to "get ready" for surgery but I was in reasonable shape for my age.
I had a goal to play golf soon after surgery. After surgery on August 8, 2008........... I played 18 holes of golf on October 21st. I did ride in a cart though, so I kinda cheated.

Walking is the key to RC recovery. It will help you "wake up" your intestines. My first walk was about 30 yards, as I recall.

Good Luck with recovery and keep us in the loop.

Thanks loads Mike. That's exactly what I was looking for. I'm an old fart (71) and usually play 100+ rounds of golf a year. I plan on getting back out swinging in May after Surgery late February. I'm the eternal optimist and will beat the crap out of this disease.

Hey John,

Here is a link: patienteducation.osumc.edu/Documents/IncontinenceExerProg.pdf

Ask away. It's a big darn deal getting this surgery. Research the site here on the forum and ask anything you want (even if it's already been asked).

Good luck on the upcoming surgery.

I'll be having surgery on feb 27th and will be having a neobladder put in. Are there any types of exercises I should be doing ahead of the surgery that might speed my recovery period?
I'm looking forward to being Cancer free but have so many questions.
