You Are Right Sara Anne LOVED hospital bill. I am grateful that I had good insurance and the best of care --- and it would be easy to not even mention the cost, for I have had to pay so very little, but now government says they are broke and will have to cut cost of entitlements --- where are the watch dogs who can easily see what you and I see --- something stinks.

Ah, Herb! You must have LOVED the detailed bill from your hospital stay...Or maybe you didn't (and shouldn't) study it.
$20 for a small box of Kleenex?

But I do agree...there is something rotten here

There is info out there such as article Mike posted that was helpful but one does have to be master of Google like Mike.

Almost cleared up except small area below outside of tape area. The present solution was to get Coloplast bag that does not have adhesive on it. What is sacrificed is extented wear which to me is important.

I have found all the vendors/manufactors of the various bags are very helpful and will send samples. I have several on their way and all I can do is attach them to opposite side of abdomen from stoma and attach them and see if there are any reactions. I think I did mention that over-the-counter 'Benzoin Tincture' did help in curing up the allergic rashes/blisters.

Getting one's routine down step by step and varying it when trouble arises usually help towards healing. Present routine: I use adhesive remover if there is any kind of residue; then wash (no soap), the I am using peroxide wash to make sure no fungi is around, again wash with clear water, then if any blotch appears I put Benzoin on it, dry with fan and finally place bag on.

I am not sure if that helps anyone but I know being consistent with how you apply new bag is important to if problems arise you can eliminate one step and see if it makes a difference.

I still have reactions when I order stuff. Though I have great insurance and seldom pay anything, when is see that my last 30 bags cost almost $600: the price seems extremely high, like near $20/bag --- simply does not seem the design would cost that much to manufacturer. Mine stuff is paid for but, I still see what is charged! Maybe I am just a grumpy old man who suspects someone is making more money than is moral.
